whatever is on my mind….

The Wedding Tree….

A little over 17 years ago late on a beautiful fall afternoon, our daughter married the love of her life under a very old cottonwood tree.  She was brought to the site in a horse-drawn buggy by her Daddy.  During the ceremony monarch butterflies by the dozens came in and began landing on her wedding dress.  At one point my son-in-law leaned over and whispered in her ear, “You’ve got butterflies.”  It seemed like such a magical day and now it still does…..

Just a couple of weeks ago, they returned to the tree to have family pictures taken with their first and only child whom they waited over 14 years for.  I think still is a magical place, no butterflies this time but the resident horses enjoyed their visit and agreed to pose with them….

Lura, what great word pictures you paint. Are there any photos of the wedding that you can post?

    • Yes there are and if I had more time today I would have scanned them. That is on my to do list! Glad you enjoyed the post!

  4. How beautiful! I remember that migration, too. It seemed all of Texas was full of Monarchs. Can’t wait to see the pics!

And HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to your kids 🙂
